Antimicrobial Patch

This image shows a flexible bioelectronic epidermal patch being removed, superimposed with the fine lines of a zoomed-in region that highlights the intricate interdigitated electrode arrays within the patch. The patch uses a tuned pH and small pulses of electricity to kill bacteria in an active wound, avoiding the need for antibiotics.

Fabrication on Water

A two centimeter-wide pattern microfabricated from carbon and released onto water. This technique avoices the typical environmental detriments of microfabrication by replacing the subtractive photolithography process, which requires extensive use of hazardous chemicals. Instead this method uses an additive process to print devices on cellulose paper then applies salts and water to detach and release the newly made device, which can be further transferred for specialized uses.
