Kei Yamamamoto

Gardel group


Background

  Kei Yamamoto joined the James Franck Institute in April 2025 as a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Prof. Margaret Gardel. He received his Ph.D in Cell Biology from SOKENDAI University where he studied live-cell imaging and optogenetics. After the Ph.D course, he worked as a postdoc at Kyoto University and RIKEN for three years and studied in vitro reconstitution of the actin cytoskeleton. Now, as a member of the Gardel Lab at the University of Chicago, he is exploring tissue mechanics in stem cells.
