Pengyu Chen

Tian group

Background

Pengyu Chen joined the JFI in February 2025 as a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Bozhi Tian’s lab. He received his B.E. in Chemical Engineering from Tsinghua University, where he developed polymer materials for electrochemical interphases in energy storage systems under Prof. Qiang Zhang. In 2024, he earned his Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from Cornell University under Prof. Rong Yang, pioneering polymer chemical vapor deposition methods tailored for biointerfaces and electrochemical interphases in biomedical devices and battery technologies. As a member of the Tian Lab at the University of Chicago, Pengyu’s research focuses on developing electrically trainable biointerfaces for advanced bioelectronic applications.
