Background
Silviu-Marian Udrescu joined the JFI in September 2024 as a Quantum Fellow postdoctoral scholar in the lab of Prof. David DeMille. He received his B.S. in Physics and Mathematics at New York University Abu Dhabi where he studied galaxy formations in a Lambda Cold Dark Matter model using numerical simulations. Recently, he received his Ph.D. in Physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he worked on developing physics-inspired machine learning algorithms, as well as pioneering the use of radioactive molecules as quantum sensors for studying nuclear phenomena and physics beyond the Standard Model. Now, as a member of the DeMille Lab at the University of Chicago, he is interested in developing ultra-cold molecular techniques with the goal of fully harnessing the power of radioactive molecules in the quest for new physics.
