Background
Stephan joined the James Frank Institute in April 2024 as a postdoctoral fellow in the group of Prof. Peter B. Littlewood. He earned is PhD in Electrical Engineering at the ETH Zurich, Switzerland in the Laboratory of Biosensors and Bioelectronics, where he was advised by Prof. János Vörös. For his PhD, he researched the activity of biological neuronal networks in culture using a diverse set of machine learning tools. At the University of Chicago, Stephan will focus on mapping the functional and structural connectivity of small cultured biological neuronal networks.
