Background
Yuan Liu joined the JFI in December 2024 as a Kadanoff-Rice postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Prof. Dmitri Talapin. He received his B.E. in Materials Science and Engineering at Tsinghua University, where he developed the solution-processible double perovskite for solar cells under Prof. Hongwei Zhu. In 2024, Yuan received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University, supervised by Prof. Edward Sargent. During his Ph.D., Yuan worked on metal-halide perovskites, including perovskite quantum dots and perovskite thin films. Yuan's research covers the application of perovskite materials in both light-emitting diodes and solar cells.
As a member of the Talapin Lab at the University of Chicago, Yuan is currently focused on developing stable quantum dot light-emitting diodes while exploring the chemical, electrical, and optical properties and potential applications of novel quantum dot materials.
