5th Year Physics Student Wins Two Science Communication Awards

5th year graduate student Savannah Gowen has been on a hot streak lately.

A team led by Gowen won the first ever Science Slam held by the NSF Materials Research Science and Engineering Centers for a presentation that demonstrates how training materials can be used to induce desired properties. You can read more about that project in the PSD press release here.

Most recently, Gowen was awarded the Gallery of Soft Matter prize at the APS March Meeting held in Chicago for a project on viscous fingering. You can read more about that project here.
